What to Wear for Spring Photos

You've booked your spring session, you've chosen a location that's meaningful to you and maybe an activity or two to help tell your story, but now what? It's time to decide what to wear! Don't worry! I've set up a what-to-wear guide for spring sessions - with links! Obviously availability will change, and your family makeup may not be the same as the examples so feel free to use this as a starting point to find something that works for you. And I never want your to feel pressured to by new items for your session! Go ahead and shop your own closets, my client closet or the thrift shop, using the items shown here as inspiration!

Pastel pinks and blues, intermixed with soft neutrals play nicely with blooming fruit trees, bright green buds and blue skies. All images are clickable links!

Some notes: most of the items shown here are from Zara, for the sake of simplicity, but some of my other favourite spots to source family photo outfits are: H&M, Old Navy, Gap, Joe Fresh, Simons and Marshalls/Winners. I chose not to include shoes in these mood boards, but that doesn't mean they don't matter! Make sure everyone has clean, neutral shoes to wear for the session. Some other general rules of thumb to keep in mind:

  • mix textures and fabrics for more interest

  • avoid logos and graphics

  • mix patterns with great care - avoid similar patterns, opting instead for different motifs and scales

  • choose a palette with complementary colours mixed with neutrals

  • bear in mind the background colours of your setting.

Feel free to reach out if you need any help at all with styling! Happy planning!
