ABOUT ME
Hey there! I’m Linda, the girl behind the camera. Thanks for being here! My love of photography started out of a desire to capture my own travel adventures in a beautiful and memorable way. Pretty soon, though, I was getting requests from family and friends to photograph their own milestones. After a few of those sessions, I knew I was hooked, and had to learn everything I could about photographing people in a way that was authentic, emotive and ultimately beautiful. I started taking college courses in photography, practicing on the endlessly supportive circle of people around me, and, after the birth of my second daughter, decided to take the leap from my job in structural engineering to pursue my passion in photography as a career. And so, Catchlight Photography was born, and has grown into something of which I'm very proud. My wedding photography has been featured in national publications and my lifestyle photography has won international awards. But my greatest feeling of accomplishment comes from bringing joy to so many couples and families by authentically capturing their unique connections and preserving their memories for generations to come.
These days, I’m a wife to my handsome, hard-working husband and mama to two beautiful, energetic, sweet and mischievous little girls, and the sweetest, silliest little boy (aka my favourite models). I have big love for the small town of Dundas, where we live. I am a coffee lover, could renovate and redecorate my house endlessly if I had the time and money, do ballet, love to cook, bake and eat, hate cleaning, and can’t remember how I survived in a pre-Netflix world. I’m a classic introvert, so I’m quieter than most, but I love to listen, and bring a calm demeanor with me to photo shoots. I love God because he first loved me, and aim to live my life in a way that shows that.

MY PHOTOGRAPHY
You are uniquely beautiful. Your story should be told in a way that reflects that. I take a lifestyle approach to photography, which is somewhere in between traditional posed portraiture and a fully documentary-based approach. My goal is to honestly portray the personalities of my subjects and the depth and details of the connections between them. I aim to create beautifully emotive photographs that transport you to the feeling of the moment or that of being together with your loved ones. My sessions are very laid-back with just enough direction to save you from feeling awkward but not so much as to make you feel stiff or unnatural. I rarely ask you to look at the camera, preferring to see you looking at each other. You never have to worry about your kids “not behaving” for the camera, because I love to capture them being themselves and interacting with you and each other in a way that is comfortable for them. I will never force them to smile, so you know if they do, it’s because they’re actually enjoying themselves! I can’t wait to capture some beautiful memories for you!
